Wendy’s Parade are a Brighton-based function band doing all your favourite songs, with an acoustic twist. Our sets combine gypsy funk and soul and more bluesy classics, all performed with our signature harmonies. Our eclectic repertoire of crowd-pleasers is perfect for weddings and civil partnerships, parties and a variety of other events, and we are available throughout the South East.
We are a co-operative of experienced musicians with overlapping interests – united by our commitment to make any event we are invited to as special and fun as we can. Let us entertain you during drinks or between courses, or ask us to warm up your crowd before the DJ starts. Alternatively, we could busk outside your venue while guests arrive, or pop up as a musical surprise for a birthday or a bride or groom.
The core of the band is the vocal duo of Alison Phipps and Celia Healy. Alison is a survivor of full-time stage school (she once played the back end of a tap-dancing cow in a production of Jack & the Beanstalk). As a singer she has over 15 years’ experience of live and session work.
Celia has sung with a range of weird and wonderful acts since she was 18, including punk and metal bands. Fortunately she stopped screaming years ago, but she remains a livewire on stage.
Alison and Celia met through their love of gospel music and have collaborated on a range of projects and events over the last five years, developing excellent chemistry and a tight vocal blend.
We go out as a trio, with accompaniment for Alison and Celia provided by one of our small collective of professional acoustic guitarists.
