Established in 1984, Brighton International Summer School (Biss) specialises in short English language and activity courses for young learners aged up to 18. We offer the chance to study English and learn about British culture in a safe, caring environment. Lessons take place at Dorothy Stringer High School, a local British school with over 1,000 British students aged 11-16, with whom there are lots of opportunities to integrate for sport, art and other cultural activities. As well as our multi-national summer holiday courses, we also arrange special ‘integrated’ programmes for school groups all year round.
Dorothy Stringer High School , which in 2007 was accredited with the British Council’s “International School” award, values its partnership with Biss, and welcomes international students into their community believing such visits are of cultural and educational benefit to its own British students, as well as to their overseas guests. The school is large with fantastic modern facilities, and is located in a good residential area of Brighton, from where we also select our host families, and within easy reach of the city centre shops and beach. BRIGHTON itself is a vibrant, exciting seaside resort, hugely popular with overseas students, under one hour by train to LONDON and close to London Gatwick Airport.
Biss teachers are friendly, enthusiastic and qualified to teach English to school age students. They understand the challenges faced by young people staying in a different country away from their parents for the first time… and understand the concerns and worries of the parents as well!
Jim Ward, Brighton International Summer School Biss Director.
