Welcome to our first walking festival. Promoting Sussex Day and encouraging healthy walking, community spirit and our area as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
A SERIES OF WALKS FOR ALL AGES AND ABILITIES ACROSS THE Worthing to Bognor and Chichester area and up to Midhurst and Horsham with ARUNDEL at its heart
Walks across and along the downs, around villages, and along the coast,
Serious walks, fun walks, easy and difficult, long and short.
Our principal charity is the Snowdrop Trust, all money raised, through sponsorship, payment for each walker or donation will be presented to the Trust after the event. ARUNDEL Historic Walks are pleased to be arranging this event for the community at ARUNDEL and also the wider public. Promotion of the event will be across all platforms and will include leaflet drops, posters, press releases, on the web and through tourism outlets. We hope to organise around 50 walks over the three days and include walks for all abilities, from disabled to professional walkers, for children and elderly.
Some highlights of walks include
FREEDOM WALK this is a series of 4 walks on the Sunday and Monday for the disabled. All disabilities will be encouraged to join us, with their carers or helpers. Two of the walks will finish at the WWT ARUNDEL Wetland Centre where a member of management will be on hand to show the centres accessibly
WORLD CUP WALK this will be for all football supporters or players, Football shirts will be encouraged and the walk is from The Red Lion ARUNDEL to The Red Lion Ashington and back (3 Lions !!)
Walberton Village Walk, a gentle stroll around Walberton with a knowledgeable leader finishing with cream tea at the village hall
The George at Burpham, a two hour walk across the Downs returning to the pub for an owl display
The Spur at Slindon, a two hour walk through Dale Park and Madehurst returning to the pub for Skittles and a bar-b-q
THE MIDHURST WAY will have walks in both directions (19 ½ miles)and also a smaller looped walk, visiting many points of interest on route
