Brighton Health and Safety

Safety in Brighton is not a major concern for visitors.   However, following a few basic guidelines will ensure a safe trip to the UK.

Avoid travelling alone at night.  This is a general recommendation for any unfamiliar area, but should be followed in Brighton as well.  If staying with a group is not an option, make sure to remain in lit areas and take safe modes of transport (buses, trains or taxis).  Avoid walking alone.

Don’t carry around large amounts of money, and avoid wearing expensive jewellery or looking flashy.  Although getting robbed is not a major concern, drawing unneeded attention is never a good idea.  Try blending into the crowd instead of sticking out.

In crowded public areas like bus stations and markets, watch out for pickpockets.  Although this in not a major concern, be aware that they exist.  Women should keep a close eye on purses, and men should store wallets in front pockets instead of rear.  Pickpockets usually seek out easy targets, so don’t be an easy target.

The local police station in Brighton is located at:
